Info-
Jayhawn down was always an ambitious man, constantly poking and prodding in things he just should have left be. When the day came that he proposed to capture a live lockjaw to gain greater understanding of the elusive and greatly feared beasts, people were decided that he had finally lost the plot.
For years at a time he would vanish to where these aliens lived, and came back madder in appearance and ideas, but never with success for his troubles.
Eventually Jayhawn’s determination to achieve what others labelled the impossible; he opposed a power he shouldn’t have.
Jayhawn captured a fairy.
Fairies were almost as rarely seen as the lockjaw species were, and although not greatly feared they were considered different, tricksy and dealt with caution. They possessed great powers for creatures the size of a mans thumb, and were tuned to the native world far deeper then humans understanding. But Jayhawn in his determination and desperation to prove himself capable of his goal brushed this knowledge aside.
He demanded of the small being to call two lockjaws, placid and under control for the fairies release. Jayhawn thought he was successful when two large lockjaws a female and a male emerged from the bushes, till in rage the fairy injected her own powers and in the end her life into the two pacing creatures.
The lockjaws changed in shape and structure, their crests became transparent and eventually non existent accept for a replica made from the magic now running through their veins, wings of power sprouted from their shoulders and their tails fanned into wispy trails.
Jayhawn was never seen again, but his fault was left to remain forever, a new breed, driven by hate towards humans, from a fairies distressed decision, these creatures both beautiful and terrible, like their fellow lockjaws, will shadow the human populations fears…
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
